What is Chlamydia?
Chlamydia is defined as a STD (Sexually Transmitted Disease) that may infect both males and females. It is so severe that it can be the fatal reason to affect reproductive organs in a woman and further making them permanently unstable. As a result of which females can face difficulties in pregnancies or it can be impossible for them to get pregnant in future. Chlamydia infection may also result in a potentially deadly ectopic pregnancy (pregnancy that takes place at the outside of the womb).
Symptoms of Chlamydia

What is the main cause of Chlamydia?
Chlamydia is caused mainly from having a vaginal sex and anal sex. You can also get affected with this infection if you have Oral sex also. In very rare cases Chlamydia is seen to have spread by touching the eyes if you have the contaminated fluids on your hands. A baby might also get affected with Chlamydia at the time of birth, if the mother has the infection.
What is the most accurate test for Chlamydia?
The most accurate and specific test for Chlamydia is a cervical swab, and this has a further benefit for the treating consultant being able to evaluate the overall genital health of the infected patient.
What does Chlamydia do to men?
Males, very rarely experience any health issues from Chlamydia infection. If a male is affected with this infection then he might experience symptoms such as fever and soreness in the tubes that are connected to the testicles. Very few men may get infertile as a result of this infection. If you ignore and leave the Chlamydia infection untreated then this might raise your risk of developing or spreading HIV.
Does Chlamydia have a smell?
There is no smell in Chlamydia at all times. However, one of the major indications of Chlamydia is an odd discharge from the vagina that contains a nasty aroma.
What is late stage Chlamydia?

Usually it takes 7-14 days for Chlamydia to get cured. Please make sure that you restrict yourself from having sex at this time in order to prevent the disease from spreading to your partner. The dose of the medication will depend on your condition and your treating health care consultant will determine the suitable dosing schedule for you which can be either a one-dose medication or a medication that needs to be taken every day for one week. If you have been prescribed a one-dose pill then it is advised to stay away from having sex till seven days.
