Breast Cancer
Breast Cancer is the most common cancer type diagnosed in women in the US. Breast cancer generally forms inside the ducts or lobules of the breast. This cancer may also form in fibrous connective tissue or the fatty tissue of the breast.
Sometimes, mutations in the cells within the breast can cause them to grow unnaturally. As such cells continue to grow and divide, they become more and more abnormal to finally form the tumour. This tumour can affect the healthy cells and may even reach the lymph nodes under the arms from where the cancer can spread to other parts of the body.
Breast cancer is the most diagnosed cancer for women in the US. It is estimated that in the year 2019, there will be around 268,000 new breast cancer cases (with a majority of female patients) and around 41,000 casualties due to this cancer.

2. Lung Cancer
Lung Cancer is the type of cancer that usually forms in the outer part of the lungs or adenocarcinomas and in the passageway of the respiratory tract or squamous cell carcinoma. Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer or NSCLC is the most diagnosed type of lung cancer.
Lung Cancer forms as a result of mutations in the cells inside the lungs. These mutated cells are unnatural in their growth and can rapidly affect other healthy cells. This rapid cell division eventually forms the tumour.
Lung Cancer is the second most diagnosed cancer and the most common cancer death in the US for both men and women. It is estimated that in the year 2019, there will be around 220,000 new lung cancer cases and around 140,000 casualties due to this cancer.

3. Prostate Cancer
Prostate Cancer type of cancer type diagnosed in men in the US. Prostate cancer generally doesn't grow rapidly and is restricted to the prostate gland. There are some cases in which the cancer shows signs of rapid growth.
There may be some cases of prostate cancer in which no symptoms appear at all. However, if detected at an early stage, when the cancer is still only in the prostate gland. The chances of successful treatment are high.
Prostate cancer is the most diagnosed cancer for men in the US. It is estimated that in the year 2019, there will be around 170,500 new prostate cancer cases and around 31,500 casualties due to this cancer.

4. Colorectal Cancer
Colorectal Cancer or colon and rectal cancer originate in the colon or rectum. These two cancers have various common features and causes. Most cases of colorectal cancer do not show any symptoms until it has already grown large. It can be prevented and even cured if detected early on.
This cancer begins as a polyp which is a non-cancerous growth but sometimes leads to colorectal cancer. Almost all types of colorectal cancer have grown from polyps. Sometimes, patients may inherit a disease like Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis that increase the chances of developing polyps and finally cancer cells.
Colorectal cancer is the third most diagnosed cancer in the US. It is estimated that in the year 2019, there will be around 101,000 new colon cancer cases and 44,000 new rectal cancer cases. The causalities from these cancers can be around 50,000.

5. Skin Cancer
Skin Cancer is the most common cancer type in the US affecting millions every year. Some types of skin cancers like basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma require minor treatments and are not likely to grow fast. Other types of skin cancer such as melanoma can spread rapidly from the bloodstream to other organs.
Skin Cancer (melanoma, basal cell carcinoma & squamous cell carcinoma) generally originates as a change in the skin. Such changes may not be cancerous but can develop into cancer cells over time. If found early on, it can be treated successfully..
Melanoma accounts for a small percentage of skin cancers but has the highest mortality rate. It is estimated that in the US for 2019, there will be around 96,000 new melanoma skin cancer cases and around 7000 casualties due to this cancer.

6. Bladder Cancer
Bladder Cancer is a malignant tumour type. If left untreated, it may grow into other parts of the body as well. Generally, bladder cancer originates in the cells of the urothelium line inside the bladder, urethra, ureters or the renal pelvis.
Sometimes the cells in the bladder may not grow at all or function abnormally, such a change can lead to benign conditions such as urinary tract infection. However, in a few cases changes in the bladder cells can cause bladder cancer.
It is estimated that in the US for 2019, there will be around 80,000 new bladder cancer cases (with a majority of male patients) and around 17,500 casualties due to this cancer.

7. Kidney Cancer
Kidney Cancer is a malignant tumour type. If left untreated, it may grow into other parts of the body as well. Alternatively, these tumours can also grow to a significant size before it spreads.
Most kinds of kidney cancers originate in the lining of the small tubes of the kidney or tubules. Renal cell carcinoma is the most commonly found type of kidney cancer in adults. In cases of children, Wilms tumour is the more common type of kidney cancer.
Kidney cancer is a very common cancer for older adults (average age of 64 years) in the US. It is estimated that in the year 2019, there will be around 73,000 new kidney cancer cases and around 14,500 causalities from this cancer.

8. Endometrial Cancer
Endometrial cancer generally forms in the lining of cells in the uterus or the endometrium. There are other cancer types that can also form in the uterus, but endometrial cancer is the most diagnosed.
In most cases, this cancer can be detected early on due to its symptom of abnormal vaginal bleeding. If detected in the early stages, surgical removal of the uterus can be the cure for endometrial cancer.
Endometrial cancer is the most common cancer of the female reproductive system and organs diagnosed in the US. It is estimated that in the year 2019, there will be around 61,000 new endometrial cancer cases and around 12,000 causalities from this cancer.

9. Leukaemia
Leukaemia is a kind of blood cancer that can be further sub-categorised into 4 categories based on the white cells it affects and how quickly it grows and spreads. Generally, Leukemia begins as abnormal white blood cells but some cases can also begin in other cell types.
Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) is the most common form of leukaemia, it begins in the bone marrow but can quickly enter into the blood and spread to other parts of the body such as the brain, spinal cord or lymph nodes.
It is estimated that in the year 2019, there will be around 61,000 new leukaemia cases with around 21,000 cases of AML. The casualties from leukaemia can be around 22,500 and around 10,500 specifically from AML.

10. Thyroid Cancer
Thyroid Cancer is not the most common cancer type in the US, but more cases are being diagnosed every year. Some cases thyroid cancer may not have symptoms at all. However, most thyroid cancer is a very treatable form of cancer.
This cancer develops from mutated cells that rapidly multiply to form a tumour. Papillary thyroid cancer accounts for the most thyroid cancer cases. It generally is a slow growing that can sometimes spread to the lymph nodes in the neck.
Due to advancements in technology and equipment, more cases of thyroid cancer are now being noticed. It is estimated that in the year 2019, there will be around 52,000 new thyroid cancer cases and around 2,000 causalities from this cancer.
